The Caucus of Corruption Becoming Clear

This is not only not a surprise, but is entirely expected and, indeed, is happening even faster than expected:
House Democrats are suddenly balking at the tough lobbying reforms they touted to voters last fall as a reason for putting them in charge of Congress. Now that they are running things, many Democrats want to keep the big campaign donations and lavish parties that lobbyists put together for them. They're also having second thoughts about having to wait an extra year before they can become high-paid lobbyists themselves should they retire or be defeated at the polls.
The growing resistance to several proposed reforms now threatens passage of a bill that once seemed on track to fulfill Democrats' campaign promise of cleaner fundraising and lobbying practices.
"The longer we wait, the weaker the bill seems to get," said Craig Holman of Public Citizen...
I hate to break it to ya, Mr. Holman, but the reason why it is taking so long and getting weaker ever day is because the Democratic Party is corrupt from top to bottom. It is how they do business - it isn't just the odd elected Democrat who is corrupt (as is the case in the GOP), but the whole Party ethic which lives on corruption. If you wonder why a Pelosi-led Congress is unwilling to go after corruption then you need look no further than the fact that Nancy Pelosi used illegal campaign funds to buy her way into the top slot among House Democrats.
There is too much corruption in politics - and as Matt and I point out in Caucus of Corruption, the GOP isn't sinless; but we cannot get to government reform until the Democrats start to clean out their own house...and, honestly, one of the first and best steps Democrats could take would be to unseat Nancy Pelosi and force her resignation. Do that, and we'd be on the path to a clean government...fail to do that, and all we'll get until the Democrats are tossed out is more of the same corruption.
