William Jefferson Indicted – Just the Tip of the Iceberg!
New book shows corruption in the Democratic Party goes far beyond William Jefferson
Boston, MA (June 5, 2007) -- Yesterday's indictment of Rep. William Jefferson (D-LA) is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to corruption in the Democratic Party, according to Matt Margolis and Mark Noonan, authors of Caucus of Corruption: The Truth About the New Democratic Majority (ISBN 0-9778-9847-4, World Ahead Publishing, May, 2007). Margolis and Noonan are far from surprised that Jefferson has been indicted and weigh on who will be next!
"Perhaps now, the American people will start to see the full story about corruption in government," says Matt Margolis, co-author of Caucus of Corruption, "for far too long Democrats have not been held accountable for their rampant corruption and it's time to bring balance to the debate."
"William Jefferson has been under a dark ethical cloud for over two years," adds Mark Noonan, "and Democrats have repeatedly turned a blind eye the ethical and legal troubles of him and other members of their party while they simultaneously launched a politically-motivated crusade against corruption that only targeted Republicans." He noted that Jefferson was nearly put on the Homeland Security Committee by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi shortly after their victory in the November elections.
"Make no mistake about it, corruption in the Democratic Party doesn't begin or end with William Jefferson," Margolis added, citing several examples detailed in Caucus of Corruption: The Truth About the New Democratic Majority, including a number of shady land deals that have made millions for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Senator Dianne Feinstein's conflict of interest by steering billions of federal dollars in government contracts to companies owned by her husband and Rep. Allan Mollohan funneling millions of federal dollars to companies that were donors to nonprofits controlled by his family.
"When you look at how many Democrats are connected to embattled lobbyist Jack Abramoff, have violated campaign finance laws, or used their position to enrich themselves and their families, there is no denying that corruption is endemic in the Democratic Party," concludes Mark Noonan, "the only question is, what are we going to do about it?"
The definitive resource on Democratic corruption, Caucus of Corruption is a must-read for conservatives, political junkies, and everyone concerned about the dubious ethics and goals of the new Democratic majority.
